Juniper Publishers| Mediated Learning Experience: Choosing Cognitive Modifiability

Journal of Psychology - JuniperPublishers Abstract Reuven Feuerstein developed a cognitive modifiability theory he termed Structural Cognitive Modifiability. The process is a multifaceted approach to facilitating intellectual growth for individuals with cognitive deficits. A facet of this process is the mediated learning experience (MLE). The MLE involves a mediator placing themselves between the individual and environmental stimuli and mediating the experience to the individual. A process whereby meaning making occurs and is deliberately reinforced toward the individual's development of selfmediation defined by Feuerstein as reciprocation. An MLE is comprised of three primary elements including intention/reciprocity, mediation of transcendence, and mediation of meaning. Mediational elements such as these form the basis of the adaptability and meaning making we know as intellect. Keywords: Mediated Learning Experience; Adaptability; intelligence; Reuven Feuerste...

Juniper Publishers| The Experimental Behavioral Model and Software to Identify the Mental Activity of Brain

Image
Journal of Psychology - JuniperPublishers Go to Abstract The paper put the general problem; try to identify in the electroencephalogram (EEG) manifestations of mental activity of the brain associated with awareness and the subjective perception of the semantic content of the visual image. For this purpose it is necessary to compare the two states, one of which is characterized by the subjective awareness; another, its absence. To solve this problem at this stage developed an experimental model and software for testing temporary visual discrimination of human abilities, understanding the semantic content of the image with the least of his exposure on the screen. The experimental model and software allow identifying and comparing performance on electroencephalographic two states of brain activity - in which there is a subjective perception of the meaning of the visual image of a person, and when it is not due to the short duration of the presentation of the visual image. Keyw...

Juniper Publishers- Self-Injurious Behavior: Treatment with Disease-Specific Medical Therapies

Image
Journal of Psychology - JuniperPublishers Introduction Psychological and behavioral symptoms, such as self- injurious behavior (SIBs), can be the expression of an underlying disease entity, sometimes even previously unidentified. When possible, the best approach to self-injury for such individuals is to anticipate the possibilities of these complications long before they actually occur by preventing or ameliorating the disease entity itself. Many diseases of the central nervous system that have self-injury are the symptomatic expression of impaired common final pathways, pathways likely altered well before birth in most cases. The abnormal functions begins to show up as the individual's brain grows, connecting and pruning (or failing to prune) essential developmental pathways. Unfortunately, in the majority of these individuals, the detection of the precise medical mechanism of action in the central nervous system that causes the underlying disease entity has not...

JuniperPublishers-Academic Stress and Buddhist Coping Resources among Indo-Thai Buddhist Students

Image
Journal of Psychology - JuniperPublishers Abstract India and Thailand have been practicing same religion since the Buddhism was introduced in Thailand by King Ashoka in 3rd century B.C. However, researcher has observed some socio-cultural factors in Buddhist coping resources are different from India. This reality leads to build a comparative research between these countries. The academic stress scale developed by researchers and Buddhist coping resources scale developed by Dr. Russ Philips was used with some modification and addition to collect the data from Buddhist students. 90 students from Assumption University, Bangkok and 90 students from Shivaji University Kolhapur, India were selected. The obtained data analyzed by student-test and stepwise multiple regression analysis. Results revealed the significant differences on both variables. Indian Buddhist students are lower on academic stress while higher on some Buddhist resources for coping with stress than Thai ...
