Compulsive Pornography Use to Relieve Constipation: Double Whammy of Shame Obsessive compulsive disorder is commonly associated with symptoms that are often distressing to the patients. In most cases part of the distress is due to shame associated with the symptoms. In this report, we highlight a case of an adult male presenting with compulsive pornography use in order to relieve him of chronic constipation, a rare mode of presentation causing added distress due to its phenomenology which has not been reported earlier. To cope with such circumstances is difficult and the term served is frustrating. Based on available evidence; it is sheer solidarity and esprit de corps which enables a captive to maintain his mental hygiene. Preserving the hierarchy among themselves made the situation of the Turkish prisoners in Corean War (1950-1953) emerge as a really admirable phenomenon. Being enslaved means waging a war of nerves. However, the idea and concept of consciousness is so variable across the cultures that it is difficult to bring consciousness within the purview of science. For the East, consciousness is homogenous, universal and present both within and outside the systems. In the context of systems-independent consciousness, there is use of terms like cosmic consciousness, nature-consciousness, universal consciousness, trans-universal consciousness, non-dual consciousness etc. For the western science, consciousness is heterogeneous, granular and confined to the live-systems like biological cell (c.f., cellular cognition) and all multicellular organisms including us.
